Besides offering our services to our members, we have also been involved for many years in taking an active interest in supporting all of the 2300+ older adults of the parish to help preserve their independence and be better informed about their physical and mental health, welfare and wider social opportunities. We were originally invited to join a regional committee chaired by the Borough Council, Social Services where all the local organisations met and discussed relevant topics after consulting with their specific areas. The committee was eventually dissolved due to budget cuts but we still receive various requests for information relevant to all of the older adults of the parish that we are pleased to comment on.
At a more local level, for many years we have organised and chaired Parish Liaison Meetings where schools, local police, churches, Borough and Parish Councils, charities, medical practices, etc. get together and discuss matters concerning our elderly parishioners. Short presentations from various organisations are also arranged for these meetings so that attendees can disseminate information back to their groups.
